Snooki and the Spray tan

This is just a short note, as I hate to give the Jersey Shore gang any more air play than they should get---which is none. Seriously guys, you used up your 15 minutes of fame about 14 1/2 minutes ago. But Snooki is in the news being her controversial self and getting all political, as you would probably expect from Snooki.

Now she's taking on the President. Since Pres. Obama put a 10 percent tax on tanning, and Snooki has been on national TV making it very clear that it was a move against "them," whoever they are.

Priceless.

Bachelorette Ali Whittles the Bachelor List Down to Roberto and Chris

As each episode of The Bachelorette airs, the viewer gets the feeling he’s seeing the drama episode to end all drama. Then the next episode airs---and even more drama surfaces. That describes Ali’s tour of Tahiti with the remaining three bachelors: Frank, Chris and Roberto.

The three men couldn’t be more different, physically and behaviorally. Frank, the cerebral, self-doubting Chicago native has shared chemistry with Ali from the start. Roberto, the Floridian who taught Ali to Salsa dance and presented her with a baseball card of himself from her hometown, sought the blessing of his family before he threw all in with the lovely blonde. Chris, the soft-spoken former NYC schoolteacher who returned to Cape Cod to help care for his dying mother, let down his guard only recently and presented Ali with a bracelet or particular significance made by a neighbor.

Ali had her work cut out for her coming off of the hometown visits. Tonight was her night to spend one-on-one and overnight dates with the men.

And that she did, with one exception.

Third things first. Frank has been pushing Ali, expressing jealousy, then pulling back with apprehension. Tonight instead of heading to Tahiti, he went back to Chicago to see his former girlfriend Nicole. Nicole told him that she had felt empty since he left. She told him he needed to come home. He smiled, lowered his head, told her he loved her and agreed.

Brendon Wins Veto Competition

Brendon took himself off the block by winning this week's veto competition. The house guests had to break pinatas filled with letters, then make a long word out of the letters. Brendon made the longest word, UNDERSTANDING, to win the contest.

Hayden had to pick someone else to put up. The Brigade has decided that Annie may be The Saboteur (at worst) and in an alliance with Brendon and Rachel (at best), so she becomes the new target. Now Annie and Rachel are on the block.

As the house guests started speculating on the identity of The Saboteur once again. Just as Kristen comments that they haven't heard from the Saboteur in a while, the TV screen flashes up with that mysterious figure. He throws out the bombshell. He tells the house guests that while they introduced themselves to one another as strangers, the fact is that two of the house guests came in as life-long friends.

So, is that the big sabotage, or is that just something The Saboteur is saying to stir the pot once again. Brendon immediately says they should discount it as a trick, which again makes him a target.

Worse, Andrew shows his crazy side once again, saying he can't be The Saboteur obviously because no one else is Jewish, so they wouldn't be among his friends. Andrew seems to think he makes his case with his protestations, but the more he talks, the more people believe he's The Saboteur and/or just plain crazy.

It will be a big night Thursday, as the first house guest is evicted, a new head of household is crowned AND the identity of The Saboteur is revealed.
Stay tuned for the July 15, Thursday show at 8 p.m.

Big Brother Guests Think They Have The Saboteur Cornered

The mischief and mayhem known as Big Brother flew into full throttle for the first nomination ceremony. Everything hinges on The Saboteur.

At end of the first show, all talk revolved around the identity of The Saboteur. The talk continued, and the nominations reflect the talk.

Brendon Villegas, the 30-year-old high school coach from Riverside, California, separated from the group when The Saboteur doused the lights during the first episode. Brendon explained that he had to find his toothbrush and brush his teeth. You could hear a collective “Huh” from the many television sets across America.

Suspicion also fell on Andrew Gordon, the 39-year-old, off-center podiatrist from Miami. Andrew hid behind the sofas and got involved with throwing things when the lights were out because, he explained, he’s a prankster. Big Brother bestowed immunity to Andrew who agreed to act as the host of the first HOH contest.

Big Brother Season 12: Meet the Houseguests

Summer means it’s time to meet the new 13 houseguests of Big Brother at CBS. The 12th season kicked off July 8 when the houseguests moved into the house they’ll share for the next 75 days.

In the first episode, as folks moved in, claiming beds and swapping stories, it may have been all about love and champagne, but as the days pass on, and the 52 cameras and 95 microphones pick up backstabbing and chicanery among the houseguests, the love will die. Word.

Before you get engrossed in the day-to-day wrangling of the houseguests, get to know their stories. After you know the players, see if you can find THE SABOTEUR, the rogue player Big Brother has planted in the house. He’s the twist in this year’s season. As Julie Chen explained, “One houseguest is not here to win. He’s here to make the guests’ lives miserable.”

Meet the houseguests of Big Brother Season 12!

Rachel Reilly, 26VIP Cocktail Waitress Las Vegas, NV.
If it weren’t for Rachel’s gi-normous breasts, the first thing you’d notice is her flowing red hair. She comes off very ditsy in the season opener, and more than a few mentioned her annoying laugh. That’s  precisely what Rachel is counting on to win the big prize.

Ali Eliminates One More Bachelor on The Bachelorette, Episode 7

Ali Fedotowsky is down to the wire with only five bachelors remaining. This week in Portugal she had to eliminate another hopeful, so that next week she can begin the hometown visits.

The good point about there being so few bachelors is that Ali had time to do 3 one-on-one dates and one two-on-one date.

She asked Roberto, who charmed her from his first Salsa dance the first night, for the first one-on-one date. And how could a spot be more romantic than the Castle of Sao Jorge. They giggle, they laugh, they cut loose, and not surprisingly, Roberto draws her into a dance.

Ali followed with a two-on-one date with Frank and Ty. Frank should have taken a hit of ether beforehand. Since he had the first one-on-one date of the season, he’s had a tough time dealing with other guys dating his girlfriend, as he’s said. He’s even more upset at this pairing because he sees Ty as his main competitor on the show.

Ali and the pair head off on a helicopter ride to Obidos, a medieval fortress. Each man got a little alone time. Frank, the retail manager/screenplayer writer/world traveler, tells Ali that he’s living at home with the folks…finally.

Later she shares some time with Ty who brought her to a zen place after the Justin debacle last week. Ty’s family is traditional, and while Ali admires it, she wonders how she would fit into the mix given that she’s a gal who works.

Kirk gets the next one-on-one date, this time to another castle, the Pena Castle. The couple travels by horse-drawn carriage. The get a private concert by Maria Joao Quadros. Not sure why Ali is keeping Kirk around. He reveals little about himself, and seems to have few ties and says he hasn’t had serious relationships, all things she says she’s looking for now that she has her priorities in order.

The final one-on-one date is with Chris whom, Ali admits, has been a bit of an enigma to her all along. The date to a local winery puts all of her fears to rest. As they are on their way, we hear her lament that she’s been waiting for him to open up to her, and now she doesn’t know if “it’s too little, too late.”

He finally feels comfortable enough to open up to her. “I love spending time with you…and I love how we are natural…It hasn’t been too quick. It’s progressed. That’s good.” He adds, “When I’m around you, I just smile. I feel happy.”

When he speaks of taking her home to meet his family, she is visibly happy. Then he puts a cherry on the deal by giving her a special gift that he has kept up until now. He tells Ali that his dad had a special bracelet made for his mother by a family friend, and he had one made and brought it with him. He waited until now to give it to her to be sure she was someone he’d want to share something that personal with. “Today was the time,” he said. Later he would say, ““When I see Ali, I see a girl I want to bring home.” After the death of his mother he moved slowly with relationships. Now with Ali, he feels walls coming down. “That makes me feel good because I feel Chris is ready now,” he said about himself.

Ali is truly overcome by the symbolic nature of it all. She said, “I loved that he saved it for now, that he waited until he felt comfortable sharing something like that with me.” She added thoughtfully, “Chris would make an amazing husband.”

Back at the mansion, reality set in as there are four roses and five men. Chris received the first rose.

In the end, Ty was left standing. He told her as they walked towards the limo in the pouring rain: “I really do like you. I had some unbelievable feelings. I wish it could have been different, but it’s not, and I thank you for everything.”

Ali looked anguished, standing in the rain alone, but said, “If I continue to let my heart lead, I’m going to meet my husband here.”

The Bachelorette: Justin and Girlfriend-gate Break Wide Open

In Istanbul, Turkey, we find out the big secret: Which Bachelor is a snake in the grass with a girlfriend back home? All of the previews and teasers have been showing a cowardly Bachelor skulking away as Ali chases him, having found out that the Bachelor has a girlfriend back home.

The drama starts right out of the gate. Jessie, a former castmate of Ali’s on The Bachelor, has information she needs to share. “I have information about someone who is one the show.” Someone is not there for the right reason, she tells Ali. “One of the guys has a girlfriend. And that’s Justin…I’m sitting with his girlfriend right now. Her name is Jessica.”

Jessica speaks in between muffled sobs. She tells Jessica that R Rated Justin hatched an idea to get on the show to make a splash in the entertainment world. According to Jessica, Justin said if he could get in the top three, the exposure would carry him afterwards. Then he would come home and marry Jessica. Jessica was in on it, which she says she now regrets. Is her regret because it was wrong or because she found out Justin had another girlfriend back home as well?

Ali took it quietly, letting the steam build up inside. After she’d hung up, she went straight to the men’s quarters with all of the men sitting on sofas. It was full-throttle tension. She launched into her story, as Justin watched her from the opposite sofa. One jaw dropped after another.

Then began what we’ve seen on previews, a cowardly bachelor trying to get out of the Bachelor compound, but having about as much luck as Jack getting out of the maze in The Shining.

The whole thing answers one age old question about karma. The answer? Yes, people, karma exists, and she’s one angry woman. “Justin, you are going to regret this,” Ali calls several times as he tries to get away.

Justin tried climbing through shrubbery in the courtyard when he couldn’t find a way out, much to the delight of the other bachelors watching from oversized windows in their suite. Finally, Justin had no way out but to walk past Ali. He sat near her but never said anything that meant anything. At one point he said he never planned to marry Jessica, the woman back home, that they were just good friends.

He walked away again, and as he shuffled his broken foot down the sidewalk, the show played a series of saved voice messages, presumably provided by Jessica. They all fell into the “Hey, baby, I miss you so much you can’t know. You need to know how much I love you.”

The remaining men are afraid that this will affect Ali and how she sees the rest of them. Perhaps she will be questioning the rest of them. “He’s (Justin) screwing with a very sacred thing to her,” said Frank.

Ali bounced back well. She planned her one-on-one date, with Ty. Craig was disappointed, as he’s yet to have an alone date with Ali.

Ali and Ty spend time in a Turkish bath, normally reserved for men only. It’s a very romantic setting, and Ali says Ty was the perfect way to calm things down after Justin. She tells Ty that he is always upbeat, always calms her down. She gives Ty a rose at the end.

Craig is hoping for a one-on-one, but the next group date is announced, and his name is included. It’s a grueling date, insofar as dates go. The men have to wrestle one another in olive oil wrestling. Craig, a lawyer, should not have had a chance in that one, but he won out of sheer will. The reward, one-on-one time with Ali. It’s perfect for him. Ali tells Craig that he always has something good to say, always makes her feel better. He finally feels like he has a chance. He got a trophy for winning the wrestling match, but it’s the one-on-one time that makes him a winner he says. “It feels almost better than winning a big case.”

That leaves Frank for the last one-on-one in Turkey. They travel through a bizarre. She puts on a belly dancer outfit, and he dons what can only be described as a really big hat. Frank and Ali are back on track after last week when she told him she was worried he was fading into the background. Ali gives Frank a rose.

Ali doesn’t hold the usual cocktail party. She says she already knows what she has to do by this point, so it seems cruel to have the men pitch for their spot on the show.

There are four men and three roses. In the end, it was Craig who was sent home. Ali told him she just didn’t think the romance was there. Craig is brokenhearted: “I was falling in love.”

The previews hint that Frank breaks Ali’s heart next week. We hear him say: “I can’t propose to a woman who doesn’t feel 100 percent for me.”

Jake and Vienna Spill on The Bachelorette about Heated Break Up

Vienna Girardi and Jake Pavelka appeared on the last half hour Monday on The Bachelorette to tell all about their break up. Chris Harrison said they were there “to tell the bitter details about their break up.”

Just in March Vienna was sporting a $42,000 Neil Lane diamond ring totaling 2.72 carats. Ahh, how fleeting is love. The public was always a little leery about the union, thinking Jake should have ended up with Tenley.

Jake joined Chris Harrison first, alone. “I just had dinner with you both a couple of weeks ago, and it all seemed fine,” Chris said to Jake, saying what a lot of people have thought. The pair has appeared at charity functions, television on at red carpet events looking like a couple in love.

Then all of a sudden, accusations were flying in the tabloid. Jake says Vienna went to the tabloids and sold a story even before he knew they were breaking up. Jake says  he was 2,000 miles away and came home, “and I’m on the cover of five magazines.”

Jake says the relationship was going downhill before he left, but “I wasn’t ready to stop fighting…I cannot fathom her doing this to me.”

Vienna came out to join Chris and Jake. The verbal clues said it all: clenched hands and folded arms.

Vienna took control of the situation, saying that a month after they started dating things started changing. It went downhill. She said it looked like they were in a relationship  when they were on a carpet or on television.  “When we were home it was lonely,” she said.

In the tabloids, Vienna accused Jake of being emotionally abusive and of having anger issues. She described a time when he flung a GPS device through the air.”

When Chris pressed her, she said it was mainly emotional issues that caused her to leave Jake (who says HE broke up with her). More precisely, she says, it was a lack of any emotion. “He was emotionally and physically not there,” she said. Vienna said she had to ask Jake for a kiss just a month after the two of them got together.

After the show, she thought they’d go back to life with him as a pilot and settle into coupledom. Instead, Jake did a stint on Dancing with the Stars and they went to Los Angeles. She thought he’d be a pilot but he wanted to pursue an acting career.

“At least I have a career,” Jake said, alluding  to his telling her to get a job several times.

Chris pressed on with Vienna: “But why did you take it to the tabloids?”

“The world is going to want to know what happened,” she answered, “and I know Jake would run right to a media outlet, and I wanted a voice in this.” She said she felt her wishes and her voice were always left out of “their” life.

Jake looked over at her and blurted out, “I’m so mad at you. I’m so disgusted with you. You sold me out to a magazine, then flirted with me all weekend.”

When the attention turned to Jake, he accused her of cheating, and hinted he had evidence. They seemed to be alluding to one particular charity event which Jake didn’t attend. Vienna says she was photographed dancing with someone with whom she was later linked.

Vienna interrupted Jake’s version, which she did nonstop to explain that she didn’t meet the man until 9 p.m. The importance of the timing will be a mystery to us all.

Ultimately, Jake said, “I didn’t sell this story.”  Chris interjects that the story went for $90,000.

Vienna balked at the $90,000 figure but said she took the money because she needed it. “you move me out to L.A. I have no car and no money,” she directed at Jake. Then she added that she knew Jake would come up with a story if she didn’t tell hers first.

They showed a clip of Jake proposing to Vienna at the close of The Bachelor. Chris looked over at the couple across from him and said, “Obviously this is going to hell in a handbasket.”  Why not just end it. He alludes to the fact that they had broken up several times.

Vienna says she broke up with Jake several times but he’d always persuade her to continue, that things would get better. It’s why she broke up with him while he was away she said.

Not surprisingly, Jake disagreed, “It was a game. She would take the ring off and go in the bathroom and want me to chase her.”

Not much was settled, just more venting, on the show. Jake says he was undermined and demasculated, and Vienna says she was controlled and treated like a child.

Part of the “reunion” of these two on The Bachelorette, said Chris, was to bring closure in the break up. Based on the venom that flew back and forth on the screen, it’s likely this will continue to play out.
