Reality Stars Say the Dardest Things

You've often heard the phrase: Kids say the darndest things. Well, children have nothing on those who sign up to go on reality shows. And the quotes that come out of their mouths are not just the ones they are caughtoff hand saying. These are the  quotes the mean to say. In fact, it's often these quotes that thrust these otherwise nobodies into new TV stars.

Celebrity Fit Club. During a teamwork drill devised by Harvey Walden IV, the Marine instructor, Celebrity Fit Club contestants are asked to make a prison break from a P.O.W. camp, the scenario Harvey has set up. The fit clubbers are chained together and must rely on one another to get the job done. Tanisha Thomas, one of the Fit Clubbers and alumna of another reality show the Bad Girls Club, doesn't quite make the grade. One of her teammates, Kevin Federline, (ex of both Brittany Spears and Shar Jackson who is also on the show) gets nabbed. Tanisha starts sobbing, "I couldn't save Kevin. I couldn't save Kevin." She was inconsolable.

Last Comic Standing: Fake or No Fake

According to comedian Rhune Kincaid, the reality TV show Last Comic Standing is fake top to bottom. He wrote in his blog:

"A lot of people have tried to talk to me about the NBC Reality Show, “Last Comic Standing.” I’m not a very good sport about it. I don’t even try. The show is fake as hell and abusive to the up-and-coming comedians it purports to be showcasing. I know this because I endured their “open auditions” in Los Angeles earlier this year."
For the rest of the story, go to Kincaid's blog.

It's a great read, and if you've liked the show, you'll want to hear this. Or maybe not. It's a Catch-22 thing. If you read the blog, let me know what you think.

The Bachelorette, Season 6, Episode 5 Recap

Ali and the bachelors were in Iceland. She chose Justin and arch nemesis Kasey to go on a special helicopter ride over volcanoes and glaciers in Iceland. Awkward doesn’t begin to describe the date start to finish.

The scenery of untouched glacier peaks couldn’t cut the tension at points. Just last week, our bachelorette told Kasey to ratchet down. He was overbearing, she had told him, which falls squarely into the “Do you think?”

So, how did Kasey take the news? The advertising account exec went out the next day and got a tattoo to show Ali again how his intent is to protect her heart. He didn’t get to show her the tattoo or make his profession yet again last episode, so he thought it was Karma that he’d get to show her on this sort-of individual date.

On Ali’s other side in the helicopter was Justin. He showed up to the date without crutches so he was able to give Ali a decent hug. He wanted the rose from the date, but the question is---why? He seemed misunderstood early on and picked on by the other bachelors. As time has gone on, however, the Rated R personality and the cockiness that goes with it, seems to surface more often. More than he wanted to receive a rose on the date, he wanted Kasey to NOT receive a rose.

Top Chef, Season 7, Washington DC, Meet the Chefs

Bravo’s Top Chef’s 7th season premiered Wednesday, June 17, featuring the Washington D.C. and a new guest judge on the panel, Eric Ripert. Seventeen brand new contestants couldn’t spend a minute admiring the Nation’s Capitol or their new living digs. They got right to the task at hand: vying for the title of Top Chef. Before we get ahead of ourselves, however, it’s time to take a look at the new contestants:

Alex Reznik (II), 33, Hollywood, Exec. Chef, Ivan Kane’s Cave Was.

His first impression on taking on D.C. for the Top Chef contest is that there are so many great chefs in D.C., so it’s a perfect place for Season 7. Alex has a diverse geographic background. His hometown is Brooklyn, he did his studies in Vegas, traveled throughout Europe and now he resides in Hollywood. More important than that as an influence, Alex is a first-generation American, and he watched his mother and grandmother preparing traditional Russian food on a daily basis. His take on cooking is to combine local, seasonal ingredients with the classic French style of cooking to come up with California bistro cuisine.

The Bachelorette, Season 6, Episode 3

The Bachelorette, Episode Three, The Bachelors Start to Fight in Earnest
Roberto, the Salsa dancer, and Hunter, the musician score individual dates

A bachelor went above and beyond to get some one-on-one time with Ali.

Were the bachelors bitten by the acting bug?

We’re down to 14 Bachelors, and Ali Fedotowsky has to start sending bachelors home. Tonight she had two one-on-one dates, as well as a group date. By the end of it three bachelors went home, leaving 11 in the house to start a whirlwind international courtship.

Host Chris Harrison brought in the first date card, for Roberto, reading: “Love is a balancing act.” And it started almost immediately, as a helicopter descended to pick up the couple.

Ali chose Roberto, she said, because she had given him the first impression rose, and she wanted to know if he’s still the same as her first impression.
Helicopter touched down at the mansion. Ali. She said, “Roberto is so protective, manly. He could be the guy for me.”

The Bachelorette, Season 6, Episode 2, Let the Games Begin

The 17 Remaining bachelors Take over the Bachelorette Mansion.

High drama, tension and breathtaking, whirlwind dates were par the course in the May 31st, Episode 2, of The Bachelorette on ABC. It was time for Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky to get down to business.

“I got a second chance of love, and it starts today,” Ali smiled.

She eliminated eight bachelors last weekend. Tonight she cut three more hopeful bachelors. It’s already getting tough, Ali said. “I sent guys home last week, and I didn’t even know them. I know these guys now.”

It was one dating extravaganza after another in an attempt to help Ali whittle down the bachelor pack. For this episode, Ali had planned two individual dates, which were both good and bad for the chosen bachelor. While he gained valuable alone time with Ali, if she decided not to give him a rose at the end of the individual date, the bachelor would be sent packing immediately.

Ali chose Frank the frenetic screenplay writer/Parisian/retail sales manager as her first individual date. Frank would come away feeling that the two were dating, he would tell Ali later, just prior to the rose ceremony. “I’m here for one reason only: to fall in love with Ali,” Frank told the cameras.

The Bachelorette Season 6, Meet the Bachelors

ABC's The Bachelorette Season 6 brings us Ali Fedotowsky, the perky blonde who left The Bachelor and pilot Jake Pavelka last season on The Bachelor because she was afraid she’d lose her awesome job at Facebook.

Now she says she has rearranged her priorities. “I gave up my job. I gave up my apartment. I gave up everything,” says Ali on the show’s premiere episode of The Bachelorette. So who are the guys she is pinning her hopes on? We found out in Episode One where the 25 guys said hello to Ali for the first time, but only 17 walked away with a coveted rose and place in the house. says Ali.

Meet the bachelors who jockeyed for a spot in Ali’s heart this first night:

Chris H., 27, Vancouver, Canada, real estate developer. Would it surprise anyone to know that Chris H. plays hockey? According to the official ABC Bachelorette Web site, his favorite book is Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People. Rose!

Chris L., 32, Cape Cod, MS, landscaper. Chris is another one with a sad story, but also a story of fortitude. He was a high school math teacher in the New York City school system when his mother fell ill. He moved back home to take care of her. “I would have been kicking myself for the rest of my life. Life is so fleeting, so short. Love is the only reality.” During his one-on-one time, he talked to Ali about his mom but didn’t tell her that his mother had recently died. Rose!
